About this product

Product information, features and application details.

Rausch DS18 33 kHz Sonde – Compact 18mm Pipe & Duct Locator is a compact locating transmitter for tracing compatible rods, cameras or pipe routes from above ground.

This allows the operator to trace the route of buried pipework and accurately identify the position of features such as blockages, collapses, connections or changes in direction without unnecessary excavation.

SPECIAL OFFER

The Rausch UK DS18 Sonde is a compact, powerful and fully self-contained waterproof transmitter designed for locating underground non-metallic pipes, drains and ducts. At just 18mm in diameter, it is particularly suited to smaller pipework and restricted-access applications.

The DS18 can be attached to Flex Rods, Cobra Rods, Drain Rods or other suitable equipment that can be pushed through a pipe or duct. Once inside the pipe, the sonde transmits a 33 kHz locating signal which can be detected from above ground using a compatible cable locator.

This allows the operator to trace the route of buried pipework and accurately identify the position of features such as blockages, collapses, connections or changes in direction without unnecessary excavation.

How Does a Sonde Work?

A transmitting sonde is inserted into a non-metallic sewer, drain, duct or pipe and emits a radio signal as it travels through the line. A compatible locator operating at the same frequency can then detect the signal from above ground.

This makes it possible to follow the route of underground pipework and identify the precise location and approximate depth of the sonde. It is particularly useful when locating blockages, collapsed sections, buried connections and other problem areas before excavation or repair work begins.

The 33 kHz frequency provides a practical all-round locating signal for many underground pipe and duct applications.
