Push Camera Systems for Drain & Sewer Inspection

There is no single pipe diameter that suits every push camera. The usable range depends on the camera head, pushrod and accessories being used.

Compact minCord systems are designed for very small pipework and confined spaces, while the larger mC and Omicron platforms cover broader drainage and sewer inspection applications.

Inspection distance depends on the pushrod length, diameter and the conditions inside the pipe. The Rausch range extends from compact 15 m systems through to platforms offering up to 130 m of pushrod.

Longer is not automatically better. For regular shorter inspections, a smaller and more portable reel may be easier to work with.

An axial camera provides a forward-facing view and is well suited to routine pipe inspection where you need to assess the general condition as the camera travels through the line.

Pan-and-tilt allows the camera to be rotated and angled towards joints, connections, defects and other areas requiring closer inspection.

A locating sonde is a transmitter that allows a compatible locator to help determine the position of the camera head from above ground.

This can help when tracing a pipeline, identifying where the camera has reached or locating a defect before further work is carried out. Sonde availability and frequencies vary by configuration.

Start with three things: the pipe diameter, required inspection distance and whether you need axial or pan-and-tilt viewing.
