Can 3D inspection replace strip-down completely?

No.

There will always be situations where dismantling, destructive testing, additional NDT or physical access is required.

3D videoscope inspection should not be viewed as a replacement for every other inspection method.

Its value is that it can provide useful visual and dimensional information before a more disruptive step is taken.

In the right application, that may help avoid unnecessary work. In others, it may simply give engineers better evidence that dismantling really is required.

Both outcomes have value.

The principle applies anywhere where internal access is difficult and dismantling carries a meaningful cost in time, labour or disruption.

The exact equipment specification depends on the component, access point, required probe diameter and the type of feature being inspected.

Why testing the system on the real component matters

A specification sheet can tell you probe diameter, resolution and measurement capability.

It cannot tell you how well the system will work on your actual component.

That is why a useful industrial inspection demonstration should involve the real application wherever possible.

Can the probe reach the area? Can the operator navigate it effectively? Is the image clear enough? Can the required measurement actually be taken?

Those questions are much more useful than simply comparing headline specifications.
