Look at the evidence, not just the specification
Baxter’s argument is that an inspection must give engineers enough information to decide what happens next. A sharp picture alone does not guarantee that. Lighting, access, probe positioning and the operator’s ability to interpret the image all affect how useful the result is.
He also asks buyers to look beyond the purchase price. In aerospace, power generation and manufacturing, the consequences of an uncertain decision can include avoidable downtime or a defect remaining undetected.
Compare systems on the real component
His practical recommendation is to test alternatives side by side on the same application. Judge the detail the operator can see, the measurements available and whether the evidence supports a confident assessment.
