The Rausch UK 8kHz Rodding Sonde is a robust, self-contained and waterproof locating transmitter designed for tracing underground pipes, drains and ducts and pinpointing the position of blockages, collapses and other underground features.

Operating at 8.192kHz, this version provides a useful alternative where the standard 33 kHz locating signal is difficult to detect due to the pipe construction, surrounding ground conditions or other interference.

The sonde can be attached to Cobra Rods, Flex Rods, Drain Rods and other suitable push-rod systems using its M10 threaded connection. Once inside the pipe or duct, it transmits a continuous 8kHz signal which can be located from above ground using a compatible receiver operating at the same frequency.

Technical Specification

How It Works

Attach the sonde to a compatible Cobra Rod, Flex Rod, Drain Rod or other suitable push rod and feed it through the pipe or duct. The sonde continuously transmits an 8.192kHz signal which can then be detected from above ground using a compatible locator.

Following the signal allows the operator to establish the route of the underground pipe and pinpoint the sonde's position. This makes it easier to locate blockages, collapsed sections, connections and other areas requiring investigation before excavation or repair work begins.

Robust Site Construction

Rausch UK Rodding Sondes are designed for professional site use. The sonde features a durable ABS plastic and stainless-steel construction, an IP68 environmental rating and an M10 connection fitted with a Nyloc insert to help prevent the sonde unscrewing during normal operation.

The sonde is also designed to withstand drops of up to 1 metre onto concrete or similar surfaces.

Rausch UK Rodding Sondes are available in three locating frequencies, allowing the appropriate sonde to be selected for the application:

• 370-100 – 33 kHz Rodding Sonde:Orange. The standard UK frequency for general-purpose underground location.
• 370-101 – 8kHz Rodding Sonde:Green. Designed for applications where locating at 33 kHz is difficult.
• 370-102 – 512 Hz Rodding Sonde:Red. Particularly suited to locating blockages within cast iron pipes.
